At Distillery, our amazing employees are at the center of everything we do — And they deserve to have the spotlight!

In our “Meet Distillery” series, we introduce you to some of the talented experts who help us (and our partners) bring ideas to life.

Today, we’d like to introduce Yosele, Operations Manager for Distillery’s Mexico offices.

Yosele, Head of Operations LATAM

Tell us a bit about your background and your role at Distillery.

I’m the Head of Operations LATAM! I have 9 years of experience in operations and finance across several industries such as software, venture capital, and real estate.

What are your biggest strengths that you bring to your role at Distillery?

I consider myself to be a smooth and calm person; I never lose my temper, and I always keep my cool. On top of that, I bring international experience in financial management.

What attracted you to Distillery?

What attracted me to Distillery initially is the chance to positively influence the work culture of a company. Additionally, the opportunity to impact the market by providing talented people in Mexico the chance to shine on projects which they otherwise would not have the chance to work on.

What are some skills or topics you’re learning about right now?

I’m learning a lot about delivery management when it comes to projects, as well as the intangibles needed to provide a framework for growth to experienced team members.

Who do you look to for mentorship/inspiration?

Interestingly enough, I mentor myself by looking at standup comedians! I like how they’re able to deliver a message that can be gruelling, conflicting, or uncomfortable, yet in a smooth fashion. In a role of leadership, communication is key — and the clearer the message, the better. This doesn’t necessarily mean that the impact has to be negative in particular situations, specifically with the difficult situations.

Coffee or tea? How many cups in a normal work day?

I don’t drink coffee or tea, but I’m a big fan of Coke! I normally drink 1 cup every day, but on stressful ones and if I have access, I can consume full liters of it.

What are a few words you’d use to describe yourself?

Honest, direct, understanding, supportive, and open (I always listen to other people’s ideas and suggestions first)!

What’s your superpower?

I’m very strong-willed, to the measure of being called strong-headed. I’ll do whatever it takes to accomplish what is expected of me.
