Nearly all startup founders face the difficult challenges involved in finding ways to fund their businesses. Nowadays, founders navigate an increasingly complex landscape of funding options. What are those options? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each? Is it worthwhile to consider newer avenues such as crowdsourcing and initial coin offerings (ICOs)? In ICOs, what’s the difference between a utility token and a security token? And what’s the best way to approach a venture capital firm, an angel investor, or a bank?
On Wednesday, April 25, 2018, we invite you to join Distillery and the Southern California Chapter of the German American Business Association (GABA) at Silicon Beach’s Boston Consulting Group (BCG) Digital Ventures for a panel presentation and networking event focused on answering exactly these funding-focused questions.
Who’ll be on the panel?
As a Gold Sponsor of the “Funding for Startups: Angel, Venture, Crowdfunding or ICOs” event, Distillery is excited to welcome an impressive slate of panelists, including:
- Verizon Ventures Director Kristina Serafim, who focuses on working with tech startups in digital media, content, ad-tech, machine and deep learning, and AI
- SAP.iO SVP and Managing Director and Techstar Accelerator mentor Ram Jambunathan, who focuses on nurturing the early-stage startup ecosystem
- StartEngine Crowdfunding CEO and Co-Founder Howard Marks, who will share his expertise on crowdfunding and ICOs
- AutoGravity CFO Lukas Wickart, who will share his experience leading $80M in fundraising efforts for the FinTech startup
GABA Vice Chair and Drake Star Partners Investment Banker Michael Metzger and GABA Chair of the Entrepreneurs and Venture Capital Industry Group and OneTraction Venture Partner Thomas Richter will welcome attendees and moderate the panel.
What’s the focus?
The panel will explore the range of funding options available to today’s startups, including traditional sources such as self-funding, friends and family, loan and convertible debt financing, angel investors, and venture capital as well as newer avenues like crowdsourcing and ICOs. Attendees will also have the opportunity to network with other attendees, meet the panelists, and join an optional behind-the-scenes tour of BCG Digital Ventures’ 70,000-square-foot cutting-edge facility devoted to inventing, building, launching, and scaling new digital ventures.
