Distillery is hiring a Senior Android Engineer to join our high-performing team of engineers in Mexico City. You will use the latest technologies to unlock new features and functionality and find innovative ways to meet our clients’ needs. You will lead multiple technically complex, large-scale projects. You’ll be part of a cross-functional team, working closely to resolve complex problems.

Responsibilities

  • Full-cycle development and support of our clients’ Android applications 
  • Demonstrate engineering excellence by writing clean, robust code and following an agile development methodology
  • Define, design, and ship new features and enhancements, support and improve the existing ones
  • Ensure and continuously improve the performance, quality, and responsiveness of the application
  • Help maintain code quality and organization, conduct code review, write unit tests
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and tools to improve software development and delivery
  • Support and mentor other developers on the team

Skills & Qualifications

  • 4+ years of software development experience including working knowledge of standard libraries and design patterns
  • Experience building high-performing, well-architected applications for Android mobile devices using Kotlin/Java
  • Deep understanding of core software concepts, including networking, security, memory management, multi-threading, and Android application life-cycle management
  • Highly proficient in the following: object oriented programming, client-server applications, data structures, architectural patterns (MVVM, CLEAN or similar), working with Android development tools and system services
  • Experience with testing tools such as Espresso and Mockito
  • Proficient in debugging and performance tuning and experience with various testing frameworks
  • Experience with Scrum and Agile methodologies
  • Knowledge of latest mobile emerging technologies, architectures, and trends
  • Strong problem-solving skills, a detail-oriented mindset, and capable of collaborating across teams
  • Conversational English skills (oral and written), including ability to write about and speak on technical topics
  • Bonus points for showing us Google Play applications you’ve made, open source contributions, or other visible past work
