About the Position

As a DBASQL Server Developer, you will be an integral part of the team. They will be responsible for monitoring uptime and errors of all production databases and back-end processes. They will design strategies for database systems and establish standards for operations, programming, and security. You will use best practices and improve the architecture when necessary taking into account performance, maintainability, reliability, security and scalability. You will be part of production on-call support on a rotating basis, including after-hours and weekends.
 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the monitoring and uptime of all production databases and processes (SQL jobs,.net framework executables; diagnose and fix database and processes errors).

  • Performs complex systems analysis and programming activities related to database design, query design, and creation of stored procedures, indexes, and functions.

  • Refine system performance and functionality; recommend optimizations to existing application queries

  • Creating and maintaining database standards and policies

  • Support database design, creation, migration, and testing activities

  • Manage the database availability and performance, including incident and problem management

  • Administer database objects to achieve optimum utilization

  • Define and implement event triggers that will alert on potential database performance, errors, or integrity issues

  • Perform database housekeeping, such as tuning, indexing, etc.

  • Monitor usage, transaction volumes, response times, concurrency levels, etc.

  • Identify reporting, and manage database security issues, audit trails, and forensics

  • Design database backup, archive, and storage strategy

  • Continually assess and improve the current database environment

  • Participates in design and code reviews, leveraging Systems Development Live Cycle best practices and ensuring architectural alignment

  • Perform Production On-Call Support on a rotational basis - including off-hours and Weekends

 

Requirements

  • Experience designing, developing, and maintaining complex SQL Server solutions

  • Experience in Data Security, Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), and using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools

  • Experience with backups, restores and recovery models

  • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database problems

  • Experience in indexes, index management, and statistics

  • Experience with Windows server, including Active Directory and proper disk configurations7. Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MSSQL Server

  • Experience defining and writing requirements and design documents as well as generating user and application documentation

  • Proficient in with Visual Studio, DataTools, .NET, SSRS, SSIS and understanding of code revision tools

  • Experience from SQL Server 2008 R2 to SQL Server 2019

  • Experience with Software Development Life Cycle Process (SDLC)

  • Experience in .NET Development
