About the Position

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Data Analyst (Retail & Consumer Insights) to support a strategic project focused on assortment lifecycle, competitive positioning, consumer behavior, and market trends within the retail sector. The ideal candidate will leverage multiple data sources—including web scraping, consumer surveys, market research, and social listening—to derive actionable insights that inform business strategies.

This role requires strong technical expertise in data aggregation, statistical analysis, and visualization to uncover patterns related to assortment competitiveness, customer engagement, traffic conversion, and marketing effectiveness. The Data Analyst will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including merchandising, marketing, and strategy, to enhance business decisions and drive growth.


Responsibilities

  • Analyze assortment lifecycle trends, identifying shifts in consumer behavior and market demand.
  • Evaluate assortment competitiveness, assessing product offerings against competitors' strategies.
  • Conduct market sizing (TAM/SAM/SOM) analysis using market intelligence tools.
  • Measure market share and share of wallet, leveraging data from tools such as Covariance or Numerator.
  • Assess brand and retailer sentiment, interpreting insights from social listening, surveys, and NPD reports.
  • Track traffic conversion rates and determine the impact of in-store experience on purchase behavior.
  • Study trip attributes, including shopping patterns across retailers and customer demographics.
  • Monitor customer engagement trends, analyzing household penetration, purchase frequency, and basket metrics.
  • Identify consumer needs and expectations, benchmarking performance against competitors.
  • Evaluate marketing media spend and strategies, comparing ROI and effectiveness of various channels.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of experience in data analysis, with a focus on data aggregation, cleansing, and harmonization across multiple sources.
  • Strong experience with SQL for data querying and transformation.
  • Experience with Power BI (ability to validate clean data for visualizations).
  • Proficient in data wrangling and cleaning processes to ensure accuracy across diverse datasets.
  • Experience working with market intelligence and consumer insights tools (e.g., Numerator, Covariance).
  • Ability to design and document scalable data request templates to streamline data retrieval and reporting.
  • Familiarity with Excel for initial data extraction/cleaning and structured reporting.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills to liaise with technical and business teams, translating data insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Experience working with consumer insights, market research, and competitive intelligence data.
  • Ability to assess assortment competitiveness, market share, customer engagement, and sentiment analysis using structured and unstructured data.
