About the position
We are seeking a highly motivated and strategic Product Manager to lead the development of a consumer insights platform designed to aggregate and automate consumer behavior data collection from multiple sources. This platform will serve as a foundational tool, enhancing data-driven decision-making for the retail team.
The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with a strong sense of ownership, capable of working closely with business stakeholders—including consultants, data analysts, and engineers—to translate business objectives into actionable product strategies. This role goes beyond execution; we are looking for someone who can challenge assumptions, align stakeholders, and drive product direction with a clear focus on business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary owner of a consumer insights platform, defining and shaping its vision, roadmap, and strategic direction.
- Collaborate closely with business stakeholders (e.g., retail team, leadership, consultants) to understand key business objectives and translate them into actionable product requirements.
- Work alongside data engineers and analysts to ensure seamless integration of multiple data sources (e.g., web scraping, consumer surveys, market research, and third-party tools such as Numerator and Covariance).
- Prioritize and manage both standardized and ad-hoc reporting capabilities, ensuring alignment with business needs.
- Lead efforts to automate previously manual data processes, reducing reliance on individual analysts.
- Foster cross-functional alignment, ensuring both business and technical teams are working toward shared goals.
- Challenge assumptions and guide stakeholders in identifying the right problems to solve, rather than simply executing requests.
- Maintain a strong focus on usability to enhance how consultants and analysts interact with the platform.
- Provide regular updates and progress reports to leadership, ensuring transparency and alignment.
- Facilitate a smooth transition of product ownership to an internal hire at the end of the contract period.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in product management, ideally within data, analytics, or insights-driven platforms.
- Strong ownership mindset, with the ability to lead initiatives independently and without over-reliance on business stakeholders.
- Proven experience working with data-related products, including data ingestion, transformation, and analytics tools.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams (data engineers, analysts) to ensure seamless product implementation.
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with experience working across consultants, retail leadership, and technical teams.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret telemetry data and make informed product decisions.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to push back on requests when necessary to ensure the right problems are being addressed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Power BI, as it may play a role in initial reporting and visualization needs.
- Basic SQL knowledge to understand and interact with data structures.
