About the Position

We are looking for a Senior PHP / Laravel Developer to join one of our client’s high-performing teams.

This role has a strong backend focus, with ownership over backend services and data management, while also requiring solid experience working with React on the frontend.

The ideal candidate has deep experience building scalable backend systems with Laravel and MySQL, is comfortable working in collaborative, fast-paced environments, and has a strong sense of code quality and architecture. Experience with Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and asynchronous processing using queues is a plus.



Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using PHP and Laravel
  • Design and optimize relational databases using MySQL
  • Collaborate closely with frontend developers to integrate backend services with React-based applications
  • Implement and maintain backend business logic with a focus on scalability, performance, and security
  • Work with existing systems and contribute to architectural improvements
  • Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and agile ceremonies
  • Ensure high code quality through clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
  • Troubleshoot and resolve backend and database-related issues
  • Take ownership of backend features from development through production release


Requirements

  • Senior-level experience with PHP and Laravel
  • Strong experience with MySQL and relational databases
  • Hands-on experience working with React at a mid-level
  • Solid understanding of backend architecture and RESTful APIs
  • Experience working in collaborative, cross-functional teams
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Advanced English level
  • Availability to work Pacific Time (PST) hours


Nice To Have

  • Experience applying Domain-Driven Design (DDD)
  • Experience working with queues / background jobs (e.g. Redis, RabbitMQ, SQS)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows
  • Experience with Docker or container-based environments
  • Exposure to cloud platforms and basic DevOps practices
  • Experience working in startup or fast-paced environments
