About the Position
We are looking for a Software Developer in Test (SDET) to help drive an automation-first quality strategy across our products. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain robust automated test solutions across API, backend, and UI layers, ensuring high confidence in every release.
You will work closely with Engineering, Product, and QA to embed quality throughout the software development lifecycle, identify risks early, and continuously improve test effectiveness, reliability, and speed.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain automated test suites across API, backend, and UI layers.
- Build and enhance test frameworks, shared utilities, and tooling.
- Ensure automated tests are fast, reliable, maintainable, and scalable.
- Reduce test flakiness and improve signal quality in CI pipelines.
- Own test strategy and automation coverage for one or more product areas.
- Partner with engineers to define testable requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Participate in design and architecture reviews to identify test risks early.
- Validate bug fixes, edge cases, and regressions prior to release.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and ensure failures are visible and actionable.
- Help define quality gates and release readiness criteria.
- Support pre-release and post-release validation activities as needed.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Product, and QA to promote shared ownership of quality.
- Provide guidance, mentoring, and best practices to less experienced QA engineers.
- Advocate for automation-first and shift-left testing practices.
- Track and improve quality metrics such as defect leakage, automation coverage, and execution time.
- Contribute to improvements in test environments, test data management, and tooling.
- Continuously evaluate and adopt new testing tools, frameworks, and techniques.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in QA automation, SDET, or quality engineering roles.
- Strong hands-on experience with automated testing frameworks and tools.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (Java, Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript).
- Solid experience with API testing and backend validation.
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong understanding of SDLC, test strategies, and quality engineering best practices.
- Ability to independently own and deliver test automation for complex systems.
- Experience with tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, REST Assured, Postman, Gatling, JMeter, or similar.
- Experience testing distributed systems, cloud-native applications, or data platforms.
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Exposure to performance, load, or reliability testing.
- Experience mentoring junior QA engineers (formal or informal).
