About the Position

We are looking for a Technical Project Manager (TPM) to lead and coordinate initiatives related to database and data platform operations. This role is primarily focused on project delivery, team coordination, and stakeholder management, ensuring that database and data infrastructure projects are delivered successfully.

The TPM will work closely with Database Administrators, Database Engineers, and cross-functional teams, helping plan, prioritize, and execute initiatives that support the stability, scalability, and evolution of the data platform. The role will also contribute to shaping the technical roadmap, defining delivery milestones, and ensuring clear visibility of progress and risks for leadership.


This is not a hands-on engineering role, but it requires strong technical understanding to effectively collaborate with engineering teams and make informed decisions.


Responsibilities

  • Contribute to building and maintaining the roadmap for database and data platform initiatives.
  •  Define delivery milestones and longer-term planning for major initiatives.
  •  Identify and manage cross-team dependencies, risks, and blockers.
  •  Provide regular delivery updates and visibility on progress, risks, and dependencies to leadership.
  • Lead planning and status discussions with technical teams and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate work across DBAs, database engineers, and other technical teams.
  • Define project scope, timelines, and deliverables while ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Facilitate communication between engineering, product, and leadership teams.
  • Track project progress, manage risks, and ensure timely delivery.
  • Support prioritization of initiatives related to database infrastructure, performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Improve processes and project management practices for technical teams.


Requirements

  • Experience as a Technical Project Manager, Technical Program Manager, or Engineering Manager in technical environments.
  • Strong experience managing technical or infrastructure-related projects.
  • Ability to work effectively with engineering teams and technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with Agile, Scrum, or similar delivery methodologies.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.


Nice to Have

  • Background working with or managing Database Administrators (DBAs) or database engineering teams.
  • Technical experience earlier in career (e.g., software engineering, infrastructure, data engineering, or database administration).
  • Familiarity with SQL databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and database infrastructure concepts.
  • Experience in data platform or data infrastructure projects.
