About the Position
We are seeking a DBA Technical Lead to join one of our Fintech client teams.
In this role, you will act as the bridge between complex database operations and strategic data development. You will lead two specialized squads—Data Engineering and DBA Support—while remaining deeply involved in technical execution. The ideal candidate combines strong leadership, deep expertise in the Microsoft data stack, and exceptional communication skills to translate business and customer needs into clear, actionable technical solutions.
This role requires someone who is equally comfortable writing detailed technical requirements as performing complex SQL queries and database migrations.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage two workstreams: a Data Engineering Squad focused on feature development and data pipelines, and a DBA Support Squad focused on stability, maintenance, and production support
- Act as the technical architect and hands-on leader, spending 40–50% of the time coding, reviewing architectures, and troubleshooting complex production issues
- Design, execute, and oversee complex database migrations and high-impact data initiatives
- Serve as the primary technical liaison with external customers, translating business requirements into well-defined technical tasks and specifications
- Own the intake and prioritization process, protecting the team from scope creep and unplanned work by enforcing structured sprint and work cycles
- Produce clear, detailed technical documentation and requirements to ensure alignment and eliminate miscommunication between customers, stakeholders, and engineering teams.
- Mentor and upskill team members, helping Ops-focused DBAs adopt automation practices and Dev-focused engineers understand production and operational constraints
- Ensure data integrity, security, performance, and compliance in a regulated Fintech environment
- Participate in agile ceremonies, technical discussions, and cross-team alignment meetings
- Be the “voice of the team” in customer and stakeholder meetings, balancing delivery commitments with technical realities
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in Database Administration, Data Engineering, or related roles
- At least 2 years of experience in a Senior or Technical Lead position
- Strong hands-on expertise with the Microsoft data stack, including MSSQL and related tools
- Experience designing, maintaining, and supporting data pipelines and ETL processes
- Solid understanding of on-premise database environments and production operations
- Proven ability to write clear, structured technical documentation and requirements
- Strong problem-solving skills with experience handling high-severity production issues
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, including the ability to say “no” while preserving customer relationships
- Experience working in Fintech or highly regulated environments (preferred)
- Advanced English level
