Technical Delivery Manager (DevOps)
About Distillery
Distillery accelerates innovation through an unyielding approach to nearshore software development. The world's most innovative technology teams choose Distillery to help accelerate strategic innovation, fill a pressing technology gap, and hit mission-critical deadlines. We support essential applications, mobile apps, websites, and eCommerce platforms by placing senior, strategic technical leaders and deploying fully managed technology teams that work intimately alongside our client's in-house development teams. At Distillery we're not here to reinvent nearshore software development, we're on a mission to perfect it. Distillery is committed to diversity and inclusion. We actively seek to cultivate a workforce that reflects the rich tapestry of perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences present in our society. Our recruitment efforts are dedicated to promoting equal opportunities for all candidates, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any other dimension of diversity.
About the Position
We are looking for a Technical Delivery Manager to help us manage multiple teams, delegate more effectively, and guide the teams technically across one of our key clients.
Responsibilities
- Cross-Team Technical Leadership: Lead, coordinate, and align multiple engineering teams across projects to ensure cohesive delivery and operational excellence.
- Infrastructure & DevOps Governance: Serve as the primary technical point of contact for navigating client infrastructure. Master and manage internal processes for provisioning permissions, access rights, and environment configuration guidelines.
- Risk Management & Status Reporting: Proactively identify technical gaps, integration risks with third-party dependencies, and compliance bottlenecks. Own and communicate project health using clear RAG (Red/Yellow/Green) status reporting.
- Architectural Diagnosis & Delegation: Maintain high-level oversight of DevOps, infrastructure, frontend, and backend ecosystems. Diagnose delivery blockers and system issues quickly, focusing on delegating execution to the appropriate technical owners rather than performing individual contributor work.
- Security & Compliance Alignment: Monitor and enforce strict adherence to enterprise security guidelines, regulatory frameworks, and compliance standards across all development environments.
- Technical Onboarding & Process Mapping: Quickly assimilate the client's internal ways of working, documenting and optimizing environment workflows and permission roles for the broader engineering team.
Required Skills
- Technical Leadership & Delivery: Proven track record as a Delivery Manager, Tech Lead, or managing delivery across multiple enterprise-scale engineering teams.
- DevOps & Infrastructure Depth: Expert-level knowledge of modern Azure cloud architectures is required. Deep familiarity with infrastructure governance, access management (Entra ID), environment provisioning, and DevOps deployment pipelines across cloud environments.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Proficiency: Hands-on experience with IaC tools for automated provisioning, specifically Bicep, Terraform, or OpenTofu.
- Advanced Scripting Capabilities: Strong ability to develop complex automation scripts using PowerShell (highly preferred) or Bash to manage cloud resources and workflows.
- Full-Stack Architecture Context: Broad technical understanding across frontend and backend systems, enabling effective high-level problem diagnosis and precise task delegation.
- Risk Evaluation & Reporting: Exceptional ability to evaluate technical risks—especially regarding third-party integrations and security—and translate complex statuses into clear, actionable reporting for leadership.
- Strategic Delegation: Demonstrated ability to transition away from individual contribution into high-level oversight, focusing on unblocking teams and leveraging technical specialists effectively.
- Enterprise Compliance & Security: Solid understanding of enterprise-level compliance protocols, security standards, and regulatory environments.
