Project Overview
Attorney Share was looking to modernize the legal referral process, aiming to revolutionize the way attorneys connect and exchange cases. By digitizing the traditional referral system, Attorney Share facilitates seamless interactions between legal professionals, empowering them to efficiently manage referrals within their networks. With a vision of creating a vibrant marketplace for legal services, the initiative originated from a fundamental idea and concept.
Challenges Faced
At the project’s outset, Attorney Share faced the challenge of building a robust platform from scratch. The task involved intricate security measures to ensure compliance while allowing any licensed lawyer to easily create an account. Additionally, integrating various legal case management systems posed technical hurdles, requiring innovative solutions to facilitate smooth data interchange.
Solutions Implemented
Collaborating closely with Attorney Share, the team, comprising both in-house and Distillery members, engaged in a process of continuous learning and adaptation. In just two months, they delivered a minimum viable product (MVP), leveraging the JavaScript ecosystem and AWS services. The website was meticulously designed with a mobile-first approach, ensuring a seamless user experience across devices.
Two additional designers, including one from Distillery, worked hand-in-hand with the product owner to enhance the platform’s user interface and incorporate new features. Integrations with legal case management systems were achieved, enabling lawyers to refer cases with just a few clicks.
Over the course of the project, the team evolved significantly, starting from a small team and growing to eight members. Initially focusing on single attorneys, the project pivoted to target companies, scaling up to accommodate multiple users with varying capabilities. Flexibility and adaptability were paramount, with the project continually reshaping to meet new needs and business goals

Since its inception, Attorney Share has experienced exponential growth, with active accounts witnessing a remarkable 80-120% weekly increase. The platform’s user-friendly interface and efficient referral mechanisms have garnered positive responses from lawyers. However, the team remains focused on making the platform profitable by removing friction points and enhancing the user experience further.
Next Steps
Currently, the team is focused on strengthening the core of the project and redefining the way cases are bought. This involves a change in business logic to require payment for proposal submissions, improving the negotiation process and enhancing the legitimacy of proposals. The team relies on AI to expedite the implementation, testing, and exploration of different ideas, ensuring efficiency and agility in development.
Moving forward, Attorney Share aims to capitalize on its success by expanding its referral network and generating new clients through the public marketplace. With a steadfast commitment to transparency, communication, and trust, the collaboration with Distillery continues to thrive, paving the way for future innovations and successes.
