About the Position

We are looking for a Lead Android Developer to join our team. This role focuses on the operational excellence and evolution of the Design System, ensuring smooth daily function, technical ownership, and effective collaboration across teams. The DS Engineer will be responsible for backlog grooming, issue resolution, governance enforcement, and technical documentation that supports engineers and designers alike.


Responsibilities

  • Take full technical ownership of the Design System, ensuring effective maintenance and continuous improvement.
  • Groom and prioritize the DS backlog weekly; handle urgent requests and communicate context as needed.
  • Escalate and address blockers promptly.
  • Implement necessary updates and changes to iOS and Android libraries.
  • Track and report on token and component usage to guide system evolution.
  • Establish and enforce versioning and governance rules for the DS.
  • Define Jira standards and communicate workflows to engineers and designers, including templates for bug reporting.
  • Finalize and align the Design System playground with original design specifications on both platforms.
  • Respond to team queries in the discuss channel within one business day, linking any new tickets created.
  • Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation of technical challenges and resolutions.
  • Provide daily written standups via Slack, keeping the team informed on progress.
  • Create internal guides to facilitate DS usage among engineering teams.
  • Identify and implement tools that integrate Figma with Jira to enhance workflow efficiency.


Requirements

  • Proven experience managing and evolving Design Systems within product development teams.
  • Strong background in mobile development, specifically with iOS and Android platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with Jira administration and process standardization.
  • Excellent written communication skills and ability to produce technical documentation.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced, remote environment.
  • High attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.


Nice To Have

  • Familiarity with tools that integrate design and project management platforms (e.g., Figma to Jira).
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in Agile environments.
  • Prior involvement in establishing governance and versioning standards in design systems.
