About the Position

We are seeking an experienced API Engineer to design and build a high-performance, unified API platform that connects our applications to multiple external and internal services. This is a hands-on engineering role where you will architect, implement, and optimize secure, reliable APIs that serve as the foundation of our next-generation product capabilities.


Responsibilities

  • Design & Develop: Build a robust, scalable API layer integrating with third-party and internal services.
  • Routing & Orchestration: Implement request routing, fallback strategies, and dynamic service selection logic.
  • Authentication & Security: Develop and enforce secure authentication and authorization mechanisms (API keys, OAuth2, RBAC).
  • Rate Limiting & Quotas: Enforce per-client rate limits and usage quotas to protect system resources.
  • Observability: Instrument logging, distributed tracing, and monitoring for analytics and debugging.
  • Performance Optimization: Ensure low-latency, high-availability endpoints through caching strategies and load balancing.
  • Collaboration: Partner with product managers and engineering teams to integrate the API platform into the broader infrastructure.
  • Documentation: Produce clear API documentation, developer guides, and internal tooling for easier adoption.


Requirements

  • Experience (3–6+ years)
    • Production-grade API development in Python (FastAPI), Node.js (Express), or Go
    • Hands-on design and maintenance of scalable API services
    • Familiarity with enterprise API gateway solutions (Kong, MuleSoft, APISIX, etc.)
    • Cloud-native architecture exposure (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
  • Technical Skills
    • Proficiency in RESTful API design principles
    • Strong understanding of authentication standards (OAuth 2.0, JWT)
    • Experience with rate limiting, caching (e.g., Redis), and monitoring tools
    • Comfort integrating external APIs and designing clean abstraction layers
  • Mindset
    • Passion for clean code, clear documentation, and robust testing
    • Adaptable to early-stage environments and rapid iteration
    • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach


Nice To Have

  • Multi-tenant platform or large-scale API gateway experience
  • Familiarity with workflow orchestration or prompt management
  • Exposure to observability stacks (OpenTelemetry, Datadog, Prometheus)
