About the Position
Distillery is seeking a Senior Product Manager – Engineering Operations (EngOps) to drive the planning, coordination, and delivery of strategic initiatives that modernize the engineering ecosystem and improve developer experience across the organization.
In this role, you will operate as a senior product leader within a “startup within an enterprise” environment, shaping the vision and roadmap for Engineering Operations initiatives. You will help bring structure to evolving operational practices while ensuring cross-team alignment and execution against ambitious outcomes such as accelerating the SDLC, improving observability, enabling security shift-left practices, and enhancing engineering operational excellence.
You will collaborate closely with engineering, infrastructure, security, and platform teams to improve developer productivity, increase the reliability and speed of software delivery, and drive the adoption of modern engineering platforms and tooling.
Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the Engineering Operations (EngOps) product vision, strategy, and roadmap across initiatives such as SDLC acceleration, developer inner-loop improvements, observability tooling, canonical architectures, and engineering operational excellence.
- Translate strategic initiatives into clear problem statements, success metrics, and prioritized product backlogs, balancing short-term improvements with long-term platform investments.
- Define and track key performance indicators using frameworks such as DORA and SPACE to measure developer productivity, delivery performance, and platform adoption.
- Coordinate delivery across multiple teams including engineering, infrastructure, security, architecture, and operations.
- Build and maintain integrated delivery plans that clarify ownership, dependencies, milestones, and risks across initiatives.
- Identify and remove blockers, facilitate decision-making, and ensure progress across cross-functional teams.
- Introduce pragmatic operating practices such as structured intake, prioritization processes, and clear decision ownership to improve operational clarity.
- Act as the voice of the developer, understanding the needs of product teams and translating them into platform and tooling requirements.
- Partner with engineering and platform teams to design developer onboarding experiences, self-service workflows, and enablement processes for EngOps capabilities.
- Monitor adoption, satisfaction, and usage metrics to guide continuous improvement and investment decisions.
- Communicate initiative progress, outcomes, and insights to stakeholders and leadership through clear reporting and executive-ready updates.
- Support the discovery, pilot, and scaling of new engineering operations capabilities.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and shared ownership of engineering operations.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional experience, including 5+ years in product management or closely related roles such as technical program management.
- Proven experience leading cross-functional initiatives across engineering or IT teams.
- Strong understanding of modern software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices, including CI/CD, observability, DevOps, developer experience platforms, and cloud-native architectures.
- Experience working in environments undergoing engineering transformation or platform modernization.
- Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous and evolving environments, introducing structure while maintaining delivery momentum.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to influence teams without direct authority.
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business value for stakeholders.
- Experience using quantitative and qualitative metrics (e.g., DORA and SPACE frameworks, adoption metrics, developer satisfaction indicators) to measure outcomes and guide prioritization.
- Strong organizational and planning skills with experience coordinating multiple concurrent initiatives using agile methodologies.
- Advanced English communication skills, both written and spoken.
- High level of ownership, proactive mindset, and ability to dive into operational details while maintaining a strategic perspective.
Nice To Have
- Experience working in large and complex enterprise environments undergoing digital transformation.
- Background collaborating with platform engineering, SRE, DevOps, or developer productivity teams.
- Familiarity with decision-making and accountability frameworks such as RACI or RAPID.
- Experience driving adoption of internal developer platforms, engineering tooling, or engineering enablement initiatives.
