About the Position
We are seeking a Senior Automation QA Engineer to help ensure the quality, stability, and scalability of a rapidly growing financial technology platform. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive automation strategy that enables fast, reliable validation of new features while protecting existing functionality through robust regression testing.
The ideal candidate has strong experience building automation frameworks from the ground up, testing complex web, mobile, and API-based applications, and integrating automated testing into modern CI/CD pipelines. You will play a critical role in establishing quality standards and ensuring the platform remains stable as it evolves toward production readiness.
Responsibilities
- Design and build the automated testing framework from Sprint 5 onward, targeting API, mobile, and web layers.
- Write automated test scripts for critical user flows: enrollment, paycheck access, ACH transactions, and account management.
- Build and maintain a regression suite that prevents new features from breaking existing functionality.
- Integrate automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline in coordination with the DevOps Engineer.
- Collaborate with the Manual QA Engineer to identify high-priority candidates for automation coverage.
- Maintain test documentation and report on automation coverage metrics during sprint reviews.
- Perform load and performance testing for transaction processing endpoints.
- Continuously refine the automation framework as new features are added through the final sprint.
Requirements
- 5+ years of QA Engineering experience, including at least 3 years focused on test automation.
- Strong experience with modern automation frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Appium, or similar technologies.
- Experience designing and implementing automation frameworks from scratch within active software development environments.
- Solid experience with API testing and automation using tools such as Postman, REST Assured, or equivalent solutions.
- Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD environments using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
- Strong programming and scripting skills in Java, Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
- Experience testing both web and mobile applications (iOS and Android) within integrated testing strategies.
- Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, test design principles, and quality assurance best practices.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with engineering, product, and QA stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Nice to Have
- Experience with performance and load testing tools such as JMeter, k6, Gatling, or similar platforms.
- Previous experience working in financial services, fintech, payments, banking, or ACH transaction processing environments.
- Familiarity with event-driven architectures, microservices, and distributed systems testing.
- Experience testing cloud-native applications deployed on AWS.
- ISTQB Advanced Level – Test Automation Engineer certification or equivalent QA certifications.
