About the Position

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, develop, and maintain the data infrastructure supporting our growing logistics and e-commerce operations. This role will focus on building scalable data pipelines, integrating data from internal and third-party systems, and establishing a reliable data foundation for analytics and business intelligence.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with GCP, particularly BigQuery, SQL, and Python, along with hands-on experience building data pipelines, developing data transformations with dbt, and orchestrating workflows using tools such as Airflow or Dagster. You will work closely with engineering, analytics, and business teams to ensure data is reliable, accessible, and optimized for performance and cost.

This is a key role in a data-driven environment where your work will directly contribute to improving operations, revenue, and customer experience. We particularly value candidates who have experience working in startups or scale-up environments, where ownership, adaptability, and the ability to move quickly are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Data Pipeline Development: Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable data pipelines on GCP, using technologies such as BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, or equivalent tools.
  • Data Transformation & Modeling: Develop and optimize ETL/ELT processes and data models using dbt, ensuring data is structured and ready for analytics and reporting.
  • API Integrations: Build and maintain integrations with internal and third-party systems using REST APIs, GraphQL, webhooks, and other integration methods.
  • Workflow Orchestration: Develop and manage data workflows using Airflow, Dagster, or similar orchestration tools.
  • Data Quality & Governance: Implement data quality, governance, and security practices across data pipelines and infrastructure.
  • Performance & Cost Optimization: Monitor and optimize BigQuery performance, data processing, and infrastructure costs.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, analytics, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver scalable solutions.
  • AI-Assisted Development: Leverage modern AI tools such as Claude, Vertex AI, Gemini, or similar to improve development workflows, productivity, and problem-solving.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering or Software Engineering focused on data infrastructure.
  • Strong hands-on experience with GCP, particularly BigQuery.
  • Expert proficiency in SQL and Python.
  • Hands-on experience with dbt, including data modeling and transformations.
  • Experience with data pipeline orchestration using Airflow, Dagster, or similar tools.
  • Experience building and maintaining third-party API integrations, including REST, GraphQL, and webhooks.
  • Experience using AI tools for software development, such as Claude, Vertex AI, Gemini, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of data engineering principles, including ETL/ELT, data modeling, data quality, and data warehouse architecture.
  • Ability to work effectively in a startup or scale-up environment, with a high degree of ownership, adaptability, and autonomy.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Looker or LookML.
  • Experience in logistics, e-commerce, or other high-volume data environments.
