My name is Rusty Kohl, I am a Sales Director here at Distillery. I come with 6 years of IT Staff Augmentation sales experience from one of the biggest Staffing firms in the world.
Given your work experience, what are your biggest strengths that you bring to your role at Distillery?
I come with a varied sales background dating back to before I was even in IT sales. I believe this helps me add a specific and unique consultative approach when working with clients to make sure that both sides are always hitting their short and long-term goals.
What attracted you to Distillery?
The people and the collective goals and excitement everyone had to succeed.
What has been your favorite part about being on the Distillery team?
The people I have met and had the privilege to work with so far at Distillery have been amazing. I have already learned so much from management and my peers.
What are some skills or topics you’re learning about right now?
Like most people right now in IT, I have been really focusing on learning more and more about AI. The long-term implications that AI will bring to the world are both exciting and frightening.
What’s your secret work-related “pet peeve” related to your role/industry that doesn’t really matter but drives you crazy?
When people are late to meetings. Usually, people are in back-to-back meetings, so it’s unavoidable. However, I hate staring at myself for 5+ minutes waiting for people to join.
Coffee or tea? How many cups in a typical workday?
I am caffeine free! But I do enjoy a nice cup of tea from time to time.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Seeing live music and traveling is where most of my money goes.
What are three to five hashtags that describe you (both personally and professionally)?
#outgoing, #music, #travel, #curious
What is your most-used/favorite emoji?
The crying emoji, usually coming from a conversation based on some ridiculously expensive trip I want to go on that isn’t in the budget.
What’s your favorite book (or what are you currently reading)?
Words of Radiance by Brandon Sanderson. Epic Fantasy done perfectly!
What is your ideal vacation (or what vacation did you last take)?
6 days total. 3 days discovering a new city. This entails going to see live music at a venue I have never been to before. Then renting a car and going to a national park or something similar to camp and enjoy the outdoors.
What languages can you speak?
- English
- Took 6 years of Spanish in high school/college and know nothing.
If you could live in any city, where would it be?
Where I live now, St. Louis. I have the best support group of both friends and family that anyone could ask for. I make sure to travel enough that nothing ever gets stale.
