Today, we’d like to introduce Rubén, the Head of DevOps Department!

Introduce yourself, your background/expertise, and your position at Distillery.

My name is Ruben Albor, I am 34 years old and I live in Mexico City. I’m currently working as Head Of DevOps Department in Distillery. I’ve been working in technology for the last 14 years and my core experience has been on Cloud Infrastructure, DevOps, SRE, Architecture and Technology Management.

Given your work experience, what are your biggest strengths that you bring to your role at Distillery?

I’ve worked in private, public and banking industries so the tech approach in every environment is different and bringing that experience to build a whole business line and function is very important. Also in all my years as director of technical areas can bring that impulse that a company as Distillery needs.

What attracted you to Distillery?

A company with a relatively new presence in LATAM but such a strong focus in technology and the possibility to grow professionally.

What has been your favorite part about being on the Distillery team?

Be part of a very good and skilled team and be involved in several projects.

What are some skills or topics you’re learning about right now?

Self-Healing Architecture with Event-driven integrations in New Relic and AWS.

What’s your secret work-related “pet peeve” related to your role/industry that doesn’t really matter but drives you crazy?

Usually the whole industry thinks a DevOps Engineer is like a swiss knife but we have stacks and specialties too! 

Coffee or tea? How many cups in a typical workday?

Coffee guy always. 3 at least

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Listening to music and playing video games.

What is your ideal vacation (or what vacation did you last take)?

My last vacation was a trip to NY.
